March 18th, 2009: In which White Arwen heals Iorek and Edward is placed in protective custody (the attic).
So you can see why I would put Edward in the Sparkle Protection Program, as it were. Since he was already hiding out in the attic, I locked him in there with a few books and some cotton balls to snack on. He's still pretty morose ("They'll never, ever forgive me for what I've done. Not even the grabby blonde one") and his self-loathing is still going at full blast ("And why should they? A monster like me can't even be trusted around innocent plush"), but I think having a full stomach has cheered him up a good bit ("For synthetic fiber, this is really quite good").

Notes
- White Arwen "healing" Iorek is meant to resemble the scene in Fellowship of the Ring (movie) where Arwen appears to a wounded Frodo. The White Arwen doll is wearing the off-the-shoulder white dress from the Evenstar scene in Rivendell a bit later, but the prototype of the White Arwen doll is actually wearing that white "healer" dress.
- "Lyra likes to use Iorek as a pillow" refers to the last scene in the Golden Compass movie, where she does just that.
- Edward is reading Pride and Prejudice, as you can see more clearly in a variant picture I didn't post. A number of Twilight fans claim that there are parallels to P&P in the first book, although I think that's stretching it a bit, beyond "Mr. Darcy is also kind of an ass to Elizabeth at first," and "hate (which becomes love) at first sight" is a pretty common romance trope. You wanna talk parallels, go rent Bridget Jones' Diary and get back to me.
